Singer Sarah Zawedde will later this year be celebrating 5 years, since she started her Zawee Band with a concert.
The singer who is one of a hand full of female band owners in Uganda and currently riding high with her new song ‘Onsuza Ntunula’, has enjoyed consistency in the industry, a fate that has eluded many.
Having been part of several other music outfits and with a stint at the National Theatre prior, her understanding of the industry might be the niche that has driven her to scale this milestone.
Zawedde who is known for her love of the reggae genre is also a good choreographer and dancer.
The singer in 2003 participated in the Coca-Cola Pop Stars, where artistes like Kefah Mwesigwa (RIP), which later was re-branded to the Coca-Cola Real Stars which bore the then Blu*3, an all- girl Ugandan outfit comprising Cindy, Lilian Mbabazi and Jackie Chandiru.
With a few setbacks like the robbery of her band equipment sometime back, Zawedde has plans of staging a concert later this year. This has proved that she is a force to reckon with in the industry.
Already with several albums including; Body Talk, Lwaki Onondola, African Woman with another if offing, the year 2017 her plan for a fete, is an indicator of her dominance in the Ugandan Band sector.
