Lately, smartphone photography has become a key focus by several smartphone companies with the release of the Huawei P9, Apple iPhone 7 and the LG V20. The question then is, should users consider the dual camera as the latest in smartphone photography or is it simply another gadget craze?
Our reporter took some time to compare the Huawei P9that was released in April 2016 with theApple iPhone 7which recently came out in September 2016 and these are some differences that he found out:
Apple iPhone 7 uses a wide-angle lens and one regular lens setup, while Huawei P9 focuses on the colour reproduction part on the camera setup. For instance, Huawei P9 features two rear-facing camera lenses, with more light and better clarity enabling one to capture detailed high quality pictures both in good and low light conditions delivering photos with superior richness, clarity and authenticity.
Looking at the camera brands, Huawei P9 is using the renowned Germancamera company Leica UI while iPhone 7 is using the default IOS Camera UI.
The Huawei P9’s camera has a dedicated monochrome sensor that captures Leica-quality black and white pictures while the Apple iPhone 7 relies on post-processing with black and white filters.
Regarding the dual camera image quality, the Apple iPhone 7 has a dual 12MP colour sensor, while the Huawei P9 has a 12MP colour and 12 MP Monochrome sensor.
While Huawei’s front camera gives 8 mega pixels, the Apple iPhone 7 offers 7 mega pixels.
When it comes to talk time, the Huawei P9 gives 20 hours while the Apple iPhone gives 14 hours. For the music play back, Huawei P9 gives 56 hours while the Apple iPhone 7 gives 40 hours.
While the Huawei P9 comes in 7 colours, the Apple iPhone 7 and Apple iPhone 7 plus comes in 3 colours only.
While the Apple iPhone 7 has speakers enabled with stereo mode only, the Huawei P9 has stereo mode enabled for watching movies, when the device is horizontal. As well, while listening to music, high fidelity sound mode can be attained when listening to music if the Huawei P9 is held vertically.
The Huawei P9 has a dual-sim active while the Apple iPhone 7 has only one.
