Mathias Mpuuga, `warning` him of the uphill task ahead, just in case he proceeds to sue NUP Principle, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu. Below, we reproduce the letter.

Dear Hon. Mathias Mpuuga

I write to you with both concern and bemusement. News has reached us that you intend to drag the invincible political gladiator H.E. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu into the same courtroom corridors where logic, law, and reality often part ways, over claims he made implicating you in the arrest of political activists.

Your courage is noted. Your trust in the justice system is admirable. But before you proceed to compile affidavits, procure witnesses, or dust off your black suit for court theatrics, allow me, as a humble spectator of Uganda’s political circus, to offer a word of unsolicited but necessary caution: I say this with all due respect: Are you really ready to sue Uganda’s most courtroom-immune politician?

You see, the man you seek to sue is not a common theatre actor. He is Bobi Wine, Uganda’s courtroom Houdini, a master of legal disappearance whose record is dotted with unfinished files, whispered adjournments, and ghosted magistrates. A man by all judicial standards known in Uganda, is untouchable even before he became a law graduate (Is it Cavendish University, I hope you know?)

You may file, serve, and shout, but when it comes to Bobi Wine, court files either vanish, stall eternally after mention, or close without ceremony. You’re not suing a man. You’re suing a myth, a well-polished illusion, a state-managed character who has built an entire political brand without a single concluded court case.

Allow me to refresh your memory: 1. The OTT Protest Arrest: (2018) He was arrested demonstrating in Kampala over the social media tax. Taken to court amid chants of “People Power!” The charge? Public nuisance. The outcome? Unknown. It was mentioned and abandoned like a script from a poorly edited movie.

2. Luuka District Arrest: (2020) Another dramatic moment during the 2020 campaign. Bobi was violently arrested for allegedly violating COVID-19 regulations. A case was filed, mentioned, and again disappeared into thin air.

3. The Arua Treason Case: (2019), his driver was killed, the country went up in flames, and Bobi, battered and bruised, was dramatically presented before a Gulu magistrate. It felt like the start of a landmark trial. But what followed? Nothing. No hearing. No ruling. No official closure. The state, which once screamed treason, simply went quiet. The case dissolved, not by acquittal, but by silence. We thereafter saw him under the guard of SFCS, later a party with deployed service men in position, foot soldiers relieved of duty to guard him henceforth.

4. The 2021 Presidential Petition: In a historic moment, Bobi Wine filed a petition challenging the presidential election, backed by video evidence, affidavits, and public outrage. But when Ugandans looked to the courts for justice, Bobi withdrew the petition, declaring instead that he would take the matter to “the people’s court”—a structureless, location-less body whose sittings are neither recorded nor reported. In essence, he gifted Museveni a five-year term without judicial scrutiny!.

5. The Kibalama/NUP Ownership Case: (2023) Founders of the very party he leads accused him of fraud and breach of agreement. They dragged him to court. What became of that case? Silence. The kind that erases history even Kibalama was totally silenced beyond a mention.

In contrast, consider Dr. Kizza Besigye, the man who pioneered active opposition. Since 2001, Besigye has never known peace in the legal system. From treason to terrorism to inciting violence, he is never more than a few weeks away from a court summons as if its part of his retirement plan. Some of his cases date as far back as 2006. He is often paraded through courts, not for justice, but for punishment.

The state seems more determined to break Besigye through perpetual court appearances than to ever conclude a single case against Bobi Wine! Maybe Bobi’s unblemished judicial record is not due to his invincibility, but to the invisible protection, Besigye lacks.

So, dear Hon. Mpuuga, do you really intend to sue this man? The man whose cases vanish faster than UPDF accountability? The man who can shift a national petition into a virtual Court with a single Facebook post? Note before you file the case that: You are filing against a man immune to court significance, else you are offering yourself for ridicule in a stage-managed game between the state and its favourite actor.

Instead, I advise you to consider filing your case directly in the Court of Public Confusion, where most of Bobi cases seem to end up anyway. Better still, take it direct to the ‘People’s Court’. Their Judgement delays, but it’s delivered over time…  baawula ekituufu ku kikyaamu… (They can tell a right from the wrong). Therefore, proceed with wisdom. And if you must sue, PREPARE FOR A PERFORMANCE NOT JUSTICE.

Yours in Political Amusement,
Kaweesa – Kaweesa

Untying The Knots: Deep Into The Mysterious Disappearance, Reported Kidnap and the Reappearance of UNAA Twice Charles Bukenya Muvawala https://theinvestigatornews.com/2025/03/untying-the-knots-deep-into-the-mysterious-disappearance-reported-kidnap-and-the-reappearance-of-unaa-twice-charles-bukenya-muvawala/#utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=untying-the-knots-deep-into-the-mysterious-disappearance-reported-kidnap-and-the-reappearance-of-unaa-twice-charles-bukenya-muvawala https://theinvestigatornews.com/2025/03/untying-the-knots-deep-into-the-mysterious-disappearance-reported-kidnap-and-the-reappearance-of-unaa-twice-charles-bukenya-muvawala/#comments Mon, 10 Mar 2025 22:49:17 +0000 https://theinvestigatornews.com/?p=7596 KAMPALA, Uganda: A fog of mystery still veils the sudden disappearance and reappearance of Uganda North America Association (UNAA) Vice President, Charles Bukenya Muvawala. The stance has left more questions than answers. While police continue to investigate, inconsistencies in the narrative of events leading to, and following his alleged abduction have fueled disturbing speculations across social media and beyond.

The Disappearance

According to the Uganda Police, Muvawala was last seen in the early hours of Wednesday, March 5th, 2025. His driver, a one Businge, reported his disappearance at Old Kampala Police Station later that day. Businge stated that he had been called to Happy Boys Bar in Nakulabye, where Muvawala was using the sauna.

Businge reportedly arrived at the bar at about 10:00 PM, and the two remained there until around 1:00 AM. At this point, Muvawala supposedly told Businge that he was heading to an Equity Bank ATM across the road to make a transaction. However, he never returned. Businge further says he attempted to reach Muvawala multiple times, but the calls went unanswered.

Shortly after, Businge reportedly received a puzzling text message from Muvawala, stating that he had been abducted. Following this development, Businge reported the matter to the police, attracting the attention of politicians, relatives, and friends of the ‘kidnapped’ Muvawala, who demanded answers from security agencies.

Happy Boys Bar resident CCTV showed Muvawala inside the bar before stepping out. Morris Mujulizi, an accountant at the establishment, recalled that Muvawala never returned. While the area is usually crowded, no eyewitnesses confirmed seeing him being taken. Some locals mentioned spotting security personnel and Joint Anti-Terrorism (JAT) operatives near the bar that night. However, this claim remains unverified.

The Search And Reactions

His family trotted from one police station to another in search of him, but the police and security agencies denied ever holding him. Police officials met with Muvawala’s relatives multiple times, but with no clear answers. UNAA condemned the disappearance, calling it a violation of human rights and vowing to push for his safe return. “We will not rest until Charles is back with his family,” the association stated.

On the other hand, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) downplayed the abduction claims, suggesting Muvawala may have staged his own disappearance. UPDF Chief Spokesperson, Maj. Gen. Felix Kulayigye speculated that Muvawala could be seeking to benefit from U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent policy on stateless persons, which provides certain protections to individuals without formal citizenship.

At the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters, party leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu voiced his concern: “We are deeply concerned by the disappearance of Mr. Charles Bukenya Muvawala, a citizen of the United States hailing from Uganda. His family says he was abducted by gunmen from Nakulabye, Kampala, around 1:00 AM while on a visit to Uganda,” Kyagulanyi posted on his Facebook page.

He added: “At the time of his abduction, he sent a message indicating that operatives had come for him. Given the recent spate of abductions targeting opposition-leaning Ugandans, we know that this too is the handiwork of the cowardly Museveni regime. We demand his immediate release from illegal detention or his swift arraignment in court if he committed any offense.”

The Investigations and Disturbing Questions

Uganda Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke stated that upon receiving the report, Old Kampala Police launched an immediate investigation. Preliminary findings from CCTV footage revealed that Muvawala left the bar alone and was seen conversing with unidentified individuals before jumping onto a boda-boda to an unknown location.

This police footage not only challenges the initial reports of a forced abduction by ‘gunmen’ but also raises puzzling questions. For starters, who were the unidentified individuals he spoke to outside the bar? Why did he choose to leave alone on a boda-boda (motorcycle)? Was there prior contact between Muvawala and his alleged captors?

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance grew even murkier when Muvawala reappeared two days later, on March 7th, in Buliisa district. One of his brothers informed the police of his return, though specific details about how he got there remain vague. Kituuma stated that the police have since sought to clarify these developments and have re-engaged Businge for additional details.

The Political Links and More Speculations

The case has taken on a political dimension after Businge reportedly deferred further police questions, stating he needed to consult the Secretary General or Deputy Spokesperson of the National Unity Platform (NUP). This raises speculation over whether Muvawala’s disappearance was politically motivated or if his party affiliation played a role in the unfolding events.

In response to the growing public interest, Uganda Police issued a statement last night assuring the public of a thorough investigation. “We have been monitoring social media circulations regarding the disappearance of Mr. Muvawala Charles Bukenya. We are committed to investigating the allegations of kidnap to their logical conclusion,” the statement, signed off by Kituuma, read in part.

A Case with More Questions Than Answers

Five among the several crucial questions remain unanswered though!

1 – Why did Muvawala leave the bar alone late at night?

2 – Who were the individuals he spoke to before leaving?

3 – Why did he take a motorcycle to an unknown destination?

4 – If he was indeed kidnapped, how did he escape or get released?

5 – What was the role of the political players in the narrative of his disappearance?

Despite police assurances, skepticism remains high. With no clear suspects and inconsistencies in witness statements, the Court of Public Opinion continues to seek clarity on what truly happened to Charles Bukenya Muvawala during the 48 hours of his disappearance. As the investigation unfolds, all eyes remain on the Uganda Police and the NUP administration to provide credible and conclusive reports on this puzzling case.

A Principal Blessing: NUP President Bobi Wine Endorses and Rally His Fans to Throng Serena Hotel for Mesach@46 Concert Tomorrow https://theinvestigatornews.com/2023/05/a-principal-blessing-nup-president-bobi-wine-endorses-and-rally-his-fans-to-throng-serena-hotel-for-mesach46-concert-tomorrow/#utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=a-principal-blessing-nup-president-bobi-wine-endorses-and-rally-his-fans-to-throng-serena-hotel-for-mesach46-concert-tomorrow Thu, 18 May 2023 20:11:04 +0000 https://theinvestigatornews.com/?p=6392 Seasoned Singer cum politician and National Unity Platform (NUP) Principal, Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has officially endorsed the forth coming music concert organized by Mesach Ssemakula aka Golden Papa, slated for Serena Hotel in Kampala tomorrow, Friday 19th May 2023.

In an ace move that will be pitted by many as a marketing engine for the show dubbed ‘Mesach @ 46 Concert’, Bobi posted late on Thursday evening on his official social media handles thus; “Singa ssi kyi, omuntu yandigenzeeko mu ndongo ya MESACH@46. Naye kyonna kekiri muko, nkwagaliza akavulu akasuffu. Anti olunaku lwa nkya, sikkyo?”

Bobi Wine

The post now confirms that Bobi Wine, who recently revamped his official music singing career has once again shown his unquestionable passion for music and that he is back into its forefront for the long haul. This now confirms that Mesach, whose team had already affirmed that all tables had been sold out, is also assured of a full house and a ‘sold out’ show, given such an endorsement. It is a sealed fate. Now the former defunct Eagles Productions founding father will be assured of smiling his way to the bank. Whether Bobi Wine will make a clandestine presence at the concert is a story for another day.

I May Be Wrong but Bobi Wine was Right to Rubbish Bebe Cool and Jose Chameleon`s Big-Three Fallacy amidst the Competition by Freshers https://theinvestigatornews.com/2023/04/i-may-be-wrong-but-bobi-wine-was-right-to-rubbish-bebe-cool-and-jose-chameleons-big-three-fallacy-amidst-the-competition-by-freshers/#utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=i-may-be-wrong-but-bobi-wine-was-right-to-rubbish-bebe-cool-and-jose-chameleons-big-three-fallacy-amidst-the-competition-by-freshers https://theinvestigatornews.com/2023/04/i-may-be-wrong-but-bobi-wine-was-right-to-rubbish-bebe-cool-and-jose-chameleons-big-three-fallacy-amidst-the-competition-by-freshers/#comments Sun, 02 Apr 2023 20:13:01 +0000 https://theinvestigatornews.com/?p=6210 Singer cum Politician Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine ticked all the right boxes when he rubbished his contemporaries Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool, and Joseph Mayanja’s continued assertion of being the Big three in Uganda’s music industry. He termed it an escapist lazy excuse from reality.

In his first pristine sober statement at a presser held at his One Love Beach in Busaabala over the weekend, Bobi Wine was cornered over his lack of solidarity with the said trio, most especially for not ‘showing’ up during the ‘stage’ quagmire build up to Chameleon’s ‘Gwanga Mujje’ botched concert. He casually exclaimed that he indeed made a call to Chameleon and that he is now more engrossed dealing with pertinent national issues as opposed to acting as a hanger-on.

Bobi Wine, then articulately labored to explain like the ‘teacher’ he is, fast churning out to be, that it beats his understanding for the duo to still be blinded by the over 20 years past, by putting themselves as the major players in Uganda’s music industry. “There are now over 100 big time artistes in Uganda with countless hit songs on rotation. You can’t zero on the so-called Big Three,” said the seemingly irritated Bobi.

Indeed, many an authoritative Ugandan entertainment follower, reporter or analyst wouldn’t agree more. This reality check statement resonates with the works that these ‘Big Three’ have been releasing. Bobi Wine, who is also facing criticism over the production quality of his latest ‘Nalumasi’ project, now sits at the helm of the flimsy ‘works’ table. He kinda forgets that the onus of calling the presser was to explain this dismal project ‘lyrical and production’ overheads.

Bobi Wine addressing journalists at his One Love Beach Busabala

What the hell was Bebe Cool thinking when he released Nyege-Nyege or Zina in the recent past? He has however, tried to reclaim his ‘hits’ ability with the release of ‘Byowaba’. Jose Chameleon’s dominance and signature voice may be phenomenal but that does not trash the fact that he has been struggling in the recent past until he chanced on a remix of ‘Forever’. Artistic dominance is made but vintage legendary status is begotten.

This resonates in its truthfulness, when deliberating about the works of the late Philly Bongoley Lutaaya, Elly Wamala, Fred Masagazi, Jimmy Katumba, Christopher Ssebadduka, Herman Basudde, Paulo Kafeero, Hadijah Namale, Freda and Charles Sonko, and Peter Tusuubira Mutebi. Where would one pit Moses Matovu and the Afrigo Band, Daniel Kazibwe aka Ragga Dee or Uganda’s best reggae export Maddox Ssematimba?

Just like Bobi Wine, yours truly intrusively insists that music is not premised on lamenting but rather works of the moment. However, being tagged along those that resurrected ‘paid’ music performances, also attributed to the emergency of FM radio stations and later social media, it’s now foolhardy to believe that you still matter in the industry unless you show up for the stiff competition that is now as found as manna from heaven.

Robert Kayanja: The Pastor Who Falsely Prophesied Dr. Besigye’s Death now takes Political Campaign to Bobi Wine’s Backyard https://theinvestigatornews.com/2022/06/robert-kayanja-the-pastor-who-falsely-prophesied-dr-kiiza-besigyes-death-now-takes-political-campaign-to-bobi-wines-backyard/#utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=robert-kayanja-the-pastor-who-falsely-prophesied-dr-kiiza-besigyes-death-now-takes-political-campaign-to-bobi-wines-backyard Tue, 07 Jun 2022 15:26:53 +0000 https://theinvestigatornews.com/?p=3602 The Miracle Center Born again Chief Pastor, Robert Kayanja, who lost it when he prophesied Dr Warren Kiiza Kifeefe Besigye’s death during campaigns, has opened another Pandora box. This time round, the controversial man of God has announced a political campaign which, he just disguised as a development drive.

The highly learned Pastor told a crowd of born again followers at Wampewo Stadium a fortnight ago, that he would, after decades, be returning home (Kasangati– Gayaza), to embark on a massive development plan for the area where he was born. What Pastor Kayanja told the crusade isn’t entirely true. Even though he could have managed to convince his flock about his mission in Gayaza, he wasn’t successful with the mighty Investigator.

Subsequently, we are piecing up this report to make known the authentic assignment taking the Pastor to Gayaza, contrary to what he told his flock. Kayanja has, frankly speaking, been consigned to counter Besigye’s anti-government fresh campaigns. This wouldn’t amaze anyone conversant with the political dealings of this Pastor.

The Born Again cleric in the past prophesized how a presidential aspirant was going to die before the close of the election campaigns. That prophecy was in respect of a candidate who was running against the pastor’s own candidate. Despite the fact that the pastor didn’t disclose the names of the candidate whose demise he was prophesying about, the public straightforwardly figured out whom he was. Kayanja`s own candidate had himself labeled Dr Besigye an invalid State House hopeful. He said why.

This was purportedly because, he had said, Besigye was carrying a deadly virus, to be specific, HIV. The accuser consequently went on to discourage Ugandans from electing Besigye as the president since, he alleged, State House isn’t a place for invalids. To put the record straight, there is absolutely no law in Uganda, and in any other country we know of, which bars HIV sufferers from standing for elective offices. In his new `development` drive, the Pastor is targeting Bobi Wine too, plushis army of radicalized youths. Even so, Bobi isn’t as highly on the Pastor’s radar as Besigye.

This is not to submit, even so, that Bobi isn’t being watched. He is. But the main target, so far, is Besigye. The question could be, why Bobi isn’t so much of a target! The NUP principal and his aides made a silent decision to boycott Besigye’s demos.Bobi isn’t, for that matter, being treated as a primary target in as far as Besigye’s demos are concerned. The NUP game readers are of the suspicion that Besigye is using the fresh demos to regain visibility at the expense of their Principle, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Bobi Wine.

We know what we are reporting about since we have been impeccably briefed by highly placed sources in the corridors of power and the intelligence, regarding the same. High on the agenda of the Pastor’s work roster, is the assignment of watering down Besigye’s high commodity prices demos. His `masters` are enthusiastic that by watering down Besigye’s perilous campaigns, the Pastor would make the messages less potent and hence unlikely to make people angry.

The above stance can be borne out by the fact that the Pastor chose to hold the Wampewo crusade days prior to Besigye’s demos. Not only is Wampeewo located in Kasangati town council, it also happens to be Besigye’s village. Just near Wampewo is Magere village, the home for another marked species. Bobi Wine is his name.Taking into consideration the proximity of Magere to Wampewo and Wampewo to Kasangati, any person with average IQ can figure out why it was chosen as the launching pad for the political war against its assumed hazardous residents.

During the crusade, the Pastor proudly showed off a number of youths. He called them out from the stands to the applause of the flock. Visibly high on drugs and alcohol, the young people, as per the Pastor, had abandoned the dangerous ghetto life for Christ. Looking lost and out of place, the young people were led on by the Pastor to chant praises for the Lord. Now this is striking. Majority of the young men arrived at the podium clad in fresh T-shirts. And so what? Please read on: –

The Bobi Factor

These T-shirts were printed in the yellow color. What about the color now? Continue reading. The jerseys bore the unmistakable ruling NRM party name. And so? To complete the picture, each one of the T-shirts, was bearing the portrait of the smiling President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni! For starters, Tibuhaburwa is the unshakeable chairman of the NRM ruling party. The old man’s garb can never be complete minus a cowboy hat. That hat is what separates Tibuhaburwa from the rest of the State House pretenders.

Yet, even the Tibuhaburwa appearing on all the T-shirts we are talking about, was spotting a cowboy hat too. Most importantly, the T-shirts were newer, as to suggest that they had been freshly organized for the wearers. That the Pastor stated that the converts emerged from the ghettos, is curious. For one, ghettos are identified with crime and lawlessness. For two, Bobi is the self-styled ghetto president. For three, Tibuhaburwa has gone on record as accusing Bobi of spoiling the ghetto youths. But how? Tibuhaburwa alleges, by encouraging them to consume drugs.

Four, in the heat of the 2021 presidential campaigns, the walls at the entrance to electoral commission main offices on Jinja road, were plastered with placards of Bobi smoking marijuana. In spite of the fact that the pictures were filmed some time back, those who exploited them sought to give the impression that Bobi is possibly still taking marijuana. The trick was to hold Bobi in bad light with the view to instigate the voters against him as a presidential candidate.

Small wonder, the pastor prearranged the youths who claimed to live in the ghettos and used them to depict their president in bad light. The overriding intention of doing this was possibly to decampaign Bobi well ahead of the 2026 presidential elections in which he is expected to feature again. In any case, the Pastor avoided inviting either Bobi or Besigye to the crusade. Yet the two are leaders in their own right in Kasangati.

The Pastor instead invited the RDC of Wakiso and the former MP, Sitenda Ssebalu. The reason for inviting them is simple. The two are ardent supporters of President Museveni and his party. Well, Besigye and Bobi are critics of the president and his regime. But they are members of the flock of God. His messenger on earth, consequently, ought to have invited them in that regard and spirit.

Going fast forward, ever since his 1999 fall-out with former boss and war comrade Gen Museveni, Besigye has been radicalizing Kasangati and its environs. As Museveni was still struggling to wrestle Kasangati and its environs from a weakening Besigye, alas, another dangerous substitute emerged. The young man would go on and escalate matters beyond the reach of Kaguta and even Besigye himself. Bobi Wine!

Such has been Besigye and Bobi’s radicalization of Kasangati and it’s environs that those places are, at the present, Kaguta’s political deserts. But looking to befriend Kasangati and its surroundings, Kaguta, in 2021, flooded the place with Emyoogacash. Besigye and Bobi’s radicalized people danced, ululated and clapped, as if to convince Kaguta, he had at long last, won them over.

They were lying. Besigye and Bobi had separately, in point of fact, conspired to tell their people to hoodwink Kaguta and reap emyooga for themselves. Yet Kaguta was impressed. He opened the emyooga taps. Besigye and Bobi’s people enjoyed themselves. But come the voting day, the beneficiaries woke up from the ‘omukkutto‘, and massively voted for a political rookie in Bobi Wine. Going back to the Wampewo crusade, the high cost of living has proved to be one of Museveni’s nightmares in the many years he has spent in power.

So much so that the candidate and his aides have been attempting to address this dilemma several times, but without any of them offering any useful solution. Smelling a big opportunity to make a political comeback, the hitherto faded Besigye quickly made a decision to milk this dilemma for all the political capital that it can offer.Looking not to waste much time, Kifeefe quickly dressed up in his blue-striped-hooded demo gear.

He jumped into his demo-hardened Land cruiser truck in order to confuse security as if he was driving to the city. Only to sneak into downtown Kisseka market and start on his demo. But the man of Kasangati was not only arrested shortly after. Hewas also charged and unprecedentedly granted a UGX30m cash bail. We have been briefed that apart from using the Pastor to undercut Besigye and Bobi, the State has also directed courts to hike bail fees for the young people joining Besigye’s demos.

This pastor has been detailed to camp in Besigye and Bobi’s political courtyard as and when necessary for purposes of dispelling the poverty campaigns. They invoked the suave and somewhat regarded pastor alive to the fact that Bobi Wine and Besigye have in the past used the poor youths’ campaign to gain loads of political capital.

For that case, the Pastor has been detailed to preach about poverty since Besigye is also looking to exploit the prevailing high commodity prices to arouse public anger. Museveni’s regime has been blamed for deliberately rendering Ugandans, notably the young people, poor. Critics base this charge on the regime’s poor economic policies coupled with widespread unemployment. The critics assert that the bloated and inefficient administration, endemic corruption and financial wastage, have only served to make the already bad case worse. For that matter, the Born Again priest has chosen poverty as the main theme of his pastoral sermon.

He deflected at length, the blame being pointed at the regime in regards to the biting poverty and unemployment among the youth.

He did so by accusing the poor youth themselves of laziness, lack of innovation and extravagance. “The youth are crying about poverty yet they are holding smart phones costing UGX1m,” the Pastor stated. He said that, seeking to make the case that the youth are poor because of their own choice for extravagance.

He thus preached stinginess among the youth. Yet Pastor Kayanja is one of the most renowned extravagant priests in Uganda and the region. Stating the fact that Kasangati and Gayaza are surrounded by urban areas, the Pastor wondered why the youths aren’t tapping into such a huge market by supplying it with agricultural produce instead of waiting for the government to give them jobs. Well, the pastor is spot-on, if at all, he cared to find out if the youths have land on which to grow the produce.

But now that the prodigal son is returning to his birth place, we hope and pray he would use his local and international connections to help the youth find the land on which to grow crops he wants them to supply to the urban areas. We also hope and pray that he will also remember to upgrade Kadongo Primary school in Gayaza, to the standards worthy of his standing as an Old Boy.

Hands Off: Bobi Wine and wife Barbie finally Give up Direct Management of their Prized One Love Beach https://theinvestigatornews.com/2022/01/hands-off-bobi-wine-and-wife-barbie-finally-give-up-direct-management-of-their-prized-one-love-beach/#utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=hands-off-bobi-wine-and-wife-barbie-finally-give-up-direct-management-of-their-prized-one-love-beach Tue, 18 Jan 2022 15:19:18 +0000 https://theinvestigatornews.com/?p=2539 We can exclusively reveal that National Unity Platform principal, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and his wife Barbra Itungo aka Barbie, have taken leave of the direct management of their prized One Love Beach in Busaabala, off Entebbe Road.

This follows a heated debate by the power couple that nearly compromised their relationship with Barbie insisting on overseeing the business, while Bobi Wine, insisted that keeping the family in charge of the business with interference from government agencies like the police would garner more business disaster.

The Busaabala show debacle, begun in 2019, when the Inspector General of Police Martins Okoth Ochola canceled Bobi Wine’s independence music show dubbed ‘Osobola.’  In a letter dated October 2nd 2019 , directing the KMP commander to stop the show , Ochola alled that  Kyagulanyi, at the time did not consider the preparatory plans for medical care, traffic control, crowd control and security.

However, earlier in 2018 during the infamous Arua municipality campaigns, the battle lines were drawn after a group of supporters to Independent – Bobi Wine- backed candidate Kasiano Wadri, collided with supporters of NRM candidate Nusrah Tiperu and chaos ensued, claiming the life of his driver Yasin Kawuma. Kawuma was seated in the legislator`s Tundura car Reg UAR 416K, when a bullet tore through his flesh.

Consequently, Bobi Wine was arrested and initially charged by the military court martial in Gulu on charges of possession of fire arms and live rounds of bullets, though the case didn’t see the light of day.

With Barbie finally agreeing on letting go of her managerial role, the sensitive issue on who to zero on to take over the helm after her departure had kept the couple on tenterhooks until recently, when they decided to tactfully lease its management.

Since then, Busaabala has been in business unabated, following President Museveni’s partial opening of the economy.

Whether Bobi Wine, will still manage to stage a concert at the venue minus being compromised by security when the economy is fully opened in a few days’ time, is a story for another day.

Blowing Trumpet to a Goat! Bobi Labors to Reach Out to President Museveni through Music he Barely Listens to https://theinvestigatornews.com/2021/12/blowing-trumpet-to-a-goat-bobi-labors-to-reach-out-to-president-museveni-through-music-he-barely-listens-to/#utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=blowing-trumpet-to-a-goat-bobi-labors-to-reach-out-to-president-museveni-through-music-he-barely-listens-to Wed, 22 Dec 2021 07:32:27 +0000 https://theinvestigatornews.com/?p=2390 In Luganda goes an adage thus; “Ofuuyira mbuzi mulele’, directly translated that; `You`re blowing a trumpet to a goat. Goats never listen or enjoy music and hence, the adage warns of time wastage to those doing it.

However, former Presidential Candidate cum singer and NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, has released a new single titled ‘Ogenda’ that he has dedicated directly to none but President Yoweri Museveni.

Bobi Wine, who seems to have tasted all political avenues to send his message to the president at no avail, this time around crafted a lyrically rich song which he desperately believes will eventually reach the president who is not known to enjoy, let alone listening to local music or folkare.

In ‘Ogenda’ Bobi Wine asserts that since Museveni assumed office on 26th January 1986, his government has overseen the worst human rights abuses in the history of Uganda.

Bobi, also looks back at the events that preceded the 2021 general election in which many of his friends and associates died, whose deaths he blames on Museveni’s security detail and police. Adding that the fundamental change Museveni promised then has been adulterated with scenes of UPDF soldiers dragging civilians off vehicles.

He then tries to educate Museveni on how, then President Idi Amin Dada (1971-1978) ignored warnings from singers and other voices about the wrongs they were perpetuating on the nation only to fall from power shortly after.

As many were praising Bobi’s lyrical maturity, he later on let the cat out of the bag, by sadly revealing that the song is not actually his original composition but rather borrowed works of the late legendary Ugandan singer Christopher Ssebaduka.

Bobi Wine released the song  on his personal YouTube page as well as the National Unity Platform channel on Monday though it is yet to be played on any major Ugandan electronic media house.

Of How Black Skin’s Uncouth ‘Debt’ Recovery System Tested Bebe Cool’s Patience into his Incarceration https://theinvestigatornews.com/2021/12/of-how-black-skins-uncouth-debt-recovery-system-tasted-bebe-cools-patience-the-led-to-his-incarceration/#utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=of-how-black-skins-uncouth-debt-recovery-system-tasted-bebe-cools-patience-the-led-to-his-incarceration Thu, 02 Dec 2021 22:46:18 +0000 https://theinvestigatornews.com/?p=2274 Whereas it was in singer, songwriter Fredrick Ssenyonga’s right to demand for his alleged due balance for the song ‘Gyenvudde’ which he penned for singer Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool, it was foolhardy for him to counter release the same song and engage in uncultured online outbursts in a bid to be fully paid.

It should be noted that though the duo entered into a business partnership in which Black Skin attests that he penned the said song, which fact Bebe Cool does not contest, Black Skin’s confirmation that Bebe Cool indeed deposited some money for the same, indicates that he is willing to pay the balances.

However, Black Skin, instead of continuously engaging Bebe Cool who is renowned for his sluggish payment terms into an amicable way in which to settle the matter, he went full throttle by re-releasing the same song which was an undesired and demeaning method.

With the same lyrics, similar arrangement and shockingly better vocals, Black Skin had tested Bebe Cool’s patience with the media being confused on whose song to play and which one was legit.

Whereas it is also alleged that the initial project was between singer Ronnie Mutabaazi and Black Skin, with the said song /lyrics deal being partially sealed about 2 and a half years ago, it is until Bebe Cool picked interest in the song that Black Skin reignited demanding for the balances.

We can authoritatively state that Black Skin, who had first demanded for Shs1m, was paid 500k, at the time, turned around and started demanding for a cool 10m shillings for the same after the audio was released recently.

With the success media rotation that the song that had been released by Bebe Cool was receiving coupled by the millions of shillings he had spent on the project and the continued inconveniences caused by Black Skin’s social media outburst over the song and monies, it was just a matter of time before the situation reached its apex.

During this time, Bebe Cool’s manager Mutabaazi tried to engage Black Skin’s business partner Ras Malik, who also failed to solve the matter, with Black Skin continuously threatening that he was going to seek legal redress.

Indeed, Back Skin was on November 28, 2021 arrested at Eno Beats Studio, Makindye by security operatives, hoarded at Jinja Police station where charges of tarnishing singer Bebe Cool’s name with humiliating statements against him in public and the media were pressed.

Singer and Songwriter Black Skin has been remanded to Luzira prison till 9th December, 2021 over allegations of character assassination, blackmail, defamation and infringing on singer Bebe Cool’s music copyrights.

Black Skin is one of Uganda’s uniquely gifted song writers and is credited for having been behind lyrics for songs such as; Katono by Bebe Cool, Up & Whine by Bebe Cool, Tatizo by Jose Chameleon, Sitani Tokema by Roden Y Kabako Ft. Sheebah & Fik Fameica. However, his current predicament should serve a lesson on how he liaises with his clients and mode of operation when it comes to business.

The idea is mine: Buchaman Raises Red Flag as Ministry of Gender Moves to Take over Ghetto Talent Project https://theinvestigatornews.com/2021/10/the-idea-is-mine-buchaman-raises-red-flag-as-ministry-of-gender-moves-to-take-over-ghetto-talent-project/#utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-idea-is-mine-buchaman-raises-red-flag-as-ministry-of-gender-moves-to-take-over-ghetto-talent-project Fri, 01 Oct 2021 21:08:22 +0000 https://theinvestigatornews.com/?p=1860 KAMPALA, Uganda: Self-proclaimed Ghetto president, Mark Bugembe aka Buchaman, has attacked the ministry of Gender and social development for hijacking his  ‘Every Talent is a Project in the ghetto’ proposal.

Buchaman alleges that the new initiative dubbed ‘Ghetto go Talent search & health awareness campaign’ is his own project pasted by the ministry without bothering to talk to him or pay him copyright fees.

“I and my wife, Mama Ghetto, presented the project to Gen Salim Saleh’s Operation Wealth Creation (OWC). The good General forwarded the idea to the Gender ministry,” Buchaman states.

He adds that had he known that the ministry was going to snatch the golden idea, he wouldn’t have tabled it in the first place. “I didn’t know I was handing meat to the hyenas for safe custody. I thought I was going to be part of the project. Now, see how the powerful people have stolen from me the weaker soul,” Buchaman agonizes.

Now that the technocrats at the ministry have thrown him out of the project, Buchaman vows he is going to take up the piracy with the powers that be. “They seem to be mistaking me for a joking subject, but I can prove a fighter when my rights are being trampled upon. Are these people undermining me just because I am a disabled guy?” the ‘Lwaki Temujangala’ singer, fumes.

As part of the initiative, Buchaman states how he has been engaging the ghetto community in a football tournament that is still underway, which he says, the ministry wants to take over as well.

The Minister of state for youth and Children Affairs Hon. Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi, launched the new initiative at the Uganda Media Center on Thursday.

The initiative will focus on talent and skills development, health camps on reproductive health, mitigating effects of mental health caused by COVID-19 and drug abuse with voting commencing on November 11 to 19, and a grand finale on November 20.

“The Ghetto Got Talent Search and health awareness campaign presents an opportunity for the gender ministry to explore a different framework, for doing research that connects more explicitly with the ministry’s objective of supporting marginalized communities, in becoming healthy actors of social change through their various skillset by having community members actually engaged in and designing the research processes,” Nyirabashitsi said.

However, Buchaman has vowed to sabotage the campaign and summoned his ghetto army to counter react the promoters of the drive unless the ministry and his team reach an a agreeable consensus

Museveni is 2021 Victor: The undeniable truth about our longstanding history and electoral rituals states the clear winner https://theinvestigatornews.com/2020/08/museveni-is-2021-victor-the-undeniable-truth-about-our-longstanding-history-and-electoral-rituals-states-the-clear-winner/#utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=museveni-is-2021-victor-the-undeniable-truth-about-our-longstanding-history-and-electoral-rituals-states-the-clear-winner Mon, 24 Aug 2020 17:25:52 +0000 https://theinvestigatornews.com/?p=1335 As we trek towards 2021, I wonder about the possibility of an upset. In football, when Watford meets Liverpool, the latter is assured of an easy win. Fans of the former write the game off. Yet, Watford could defeat Liverpool – as they did this season – to cause what we call an upset.

So, I wonder if Watford (Opposition) could topple Liverpool (NRM) and cause an epic upset in modern African history. Could Watford overcome that improbability?

For thirty-five years, the State House has housed the same individual. There are many reasons for this. Contradistinctively, Liverpool had not won the league in thirty years – until their momentous run in the 2020/21 season.

This country’s pre-1986 history is bloody. Museveni – not entirely saintly in his role in Ugandan politics prior to the 1980 elections – was a gallant knight in shinning amour. His ten-point program was, to Uganda, what sweet-nothings are to new lovers. In spite of a few bad seeds, NRA was generally aggregable in contrast to UNLA.

NRA overpowered Obote with the good will of the people and a dash of luck that was the crashing of Oyite Ojok’s helicopter. Later, the eviction of Lutwa from State House was easier than learning the first three letters of the alphabet. The fella was uneducated and highly unqualified. Ring any bells?

Museveni’s commission to democracy was evidenced by initiating the national constitutional education and consultations. Although this process had its difficulties, as Odoki noted, it was successful and void of manipulation.

They that tasted anarchy find peace to be priceless. Uganda, although composed mostly of the youth, has a substantial number of elders. This lot treasures Ssevo despite his flaws. It influences national politics in more ways than we care to admit. Getting back to the question; is an upset possible? As I run the unlikely risk of swallowing my words, I’d say an upset is impossible! Let’s review the status quo.

On Friday, the Commander in Chief (CIC) oversaw the graduation of over 4,800 police trainees. These shall soon join the other thousands who are roaming the country. They will become part of an institution that persecutes those who express free thought. The fact that the police conducts partisan operations every now and then is undisputable.

Essentially, the growing police is a huddle for the opposition. Whereas it should not be the case, the POMA has ensured that the police have a right of oppression. Under the Act, one has to notify them of any public gathering they intends to hold. The complexity arises from the police’s right to reject a venue as unfavourable. The chances of an outspoken opposition politician having cooperation from the police on that matter are few.

On the other hand, the ruling party candidates conduct campaigns with nary a query. Besides that, the national development is an incentive to choose Museveni. The government policies prior to 1986 were counterproductive. The economy suffered a huge blow under Amin and did not recover under Obote. Essential commodities were hard to come by and hence expensive.

In contrast, the economic environment is fair enough for a large portion of the population to afford such commodities. The political environment is such that a life of luxury is possible for those who can afford it. All this; despite the inflation today.

The infrastructural development under Ssevo is monumental when one considers our history. Over 5000km of Ugandan roads today are paved. Privatisation has facilitated a rise of skyscrapers over the country. The rate of production and export has also increased. All these developments, albeit slow, make Ssevo a handsome candidate.

Such developments carry a very big load over our will to fight for change. We cannot do whatever it takes for fear of receding. Any financially independent citizen would embrace a monarchy if it offers high per capita. The spirit that was manifested between 1980 and 1986 has been stifled by this bubble of comfort. It may be good governance! Truly, any smart dictator knows that a comfortable populace guarantees entrenchment. Talk of pros and cons! One can use development as a tactic and still be a hero.

The opposition also deals with characters like Mwenda. A hulking structural integrity can only be weakened from within. The ‘old man of the clan’ knows that all too well. He would have us believe that he joined NUP to provide good leadership. Au contraire, there are only two sides to that coin; either he is a virus launched by the enemy or he has a personal vendetta. Neither side of the coin is good for NUP. He is there to weaken their structural integrity. Simply, he is to NUP what Phil Jones was to Manchester United; a player for the other team!

Those factors, although valid, don’t compare to those that we’ve grown accustomed to. The political persecutions, oppression, electoral violence, manipulation, intimidation and alleged rigging drive the final nail into the coffin. These variables have been consistent and evident.

The Supreme Court recognised the existence of these electoral issues. Although it rendered them unsubstantial, its declarations were followed by a recommendation of reforms to the Attorney General’s office; to remedy the same. Nevertheless, the government has not implemented any of the reforms. They simply carry on with the same old rituals.

Various electoral observers have reported similarly. The same factors tip the electoral result in favour of the incumbent in every election. Whether or not the incumbent signs off on these events is questionable. When one trains a dog, it needs no command to attack an intruder! Such behaviour becomes instinctive!

Nonetheless, considering Uganda’s gruesome history, the change is overbearing. Therefore, claims of there being no big difference between then and now are invalid. Many of these claims arise from a generation that is ill informed about the past. The youthful fanbase have forgotten the history; perhaps because it was told to them as opposed to inhaling the ashes and dust of war. Anyone that likens today to the pre-1986 Uganda is an insolent fool!

Also, there are many people in the country whose positions aren’t aired over the media. The call for change seems overwhelming! The people that make it use the media more than those that are content. However, the latter are more than the former. Although Uganda has a young population, it cannot be regarded as anti-NRM in its entirety. There are many youths that are happy with the status quo.

Watford has a lot of barriers to overcome even without Uganda’s electoral rituals. Liverpool has been dominant in the league and is therefore more likely to win it. Yet, Watford is left no room to breathe as numerous unjust circumstances await it. I therefore have no hope for an upset!

Let’s end our denial! The possibility for change doesn’t lie in catchy slogans that stir up the public. It is not to be found in our frustration. Truly, change lies in our patience. We should patiently build a just and equitable structure to defeat the intolerant and oppressive structure that stands today. Patience, in this case, wins this war!
