Nakachwa, one of the directors of Interlink Educational Services Uganda Limited, painted a grim picture of their decade-long struggle to establish an International Public School in Uganda. “We wanted to build an International and/or Cambridge public School in Uganda as soon as we got this land. Our dream has however been frustrated and disappointed by Lawyer Felix Kintu Nteza,” Nakachwa lamented, her eyes betraying a mix of sadness and anger.

The case stems from Nteza’s alleged fraudulent activities in a 2013 land transaction in Wakiso District. The estate in question, located in Busiro at Block 220, Plot 64 in Gimbo, Wakiso District, was intended for the school project. However, according to Nakachwa, Nteza’s actions have left the dream of establishing the school in tatters.

“We’ve been trying to seek legal ownership of the land in Wakiso Jimbo for ten years now. Nteza not only failed to provide us with the land title but also failed to show us any proof of land ownership even after fully paying for this land,” Nakachwa revealed. The frustration echoed by Nakachwa and her business partner, Nsubuga Jimson, encapsulated the disappointment of an investment gone awry.

The prosecution asserts that Nteza committed the offense between August 27, 2013, and August 5, 2014, when he allegedly defrauded UGX195 million from Interlink Educational Services Uganda Limited. The prosecution contends that Nteza falsely presented himself as representing the administrators of the Estate of the late Kamya George, selling property in Busiro Block 220, Plot 64 at Gimbo, Wakiso District.

The courtroom witnessed a flurry of legal arguments from both the defense and prosecution teams before the trial began. The defense sought to delay proceedings, citing a pending high court application over the legality of the ongoing case. However, Magistrate Fidelis Otawo ruled in favor of proceeding with the trial, emphasizing the pursuit of justice and fairness.

As Aidah Nakachwa took the stand, she recounted the journey that began in 2012 with the establishment of Interlink Education Services Uganda Limited. She narrated how their vision of an international school was paired with the purchase of land in Wakiso district. With allegations of frantic calls and false promises, Nakachwa painted a vivid picture of frustration and unfulfilled expectations.

Nteza’s defense team attempted to challenge Nakachwa’s testimony but struggled to undermine her account. After a failed attempt to adjourn proceedings for better preparation, the court was adjourned to September 12, 2023. The legal battle continues, leaving the fate of the Interlink Educational Services’ international school dream hanging in the balance.

The trial serves as a reminder that justice, even in the face of disappointment and frustration, must be sought relentlessly. As the legal drama unfolds, the hopes of Interlink Educational Services Uganda Limited hang on the outcome of the courtroom battle against the once-prominent lawyer, Felix Kintu Nteza.
