Celeb after slay queen made a stop at the UG Pineapple lounge to taste the new Uganda Waragi Flavour and enjoy the beautiful set up that resonated well with the theme of Blankets and Wine; relax, lounge and have fun with a drink in hand.

The Blankets and Wine edition was the best event for UG Pineapple to shine as it resonates with the Gin’s niche market, lounge in the sun and catch a cocktail. As the afternoon turned to evening and into the night, Kampala party revellers flocked Lugogo cricket oval in their hundreds.

The event is a good excuse for girls to show off their fashion sense and Kampala girls do not disappoint. Girls in hot pants, girls in overalls, girls bringing African Fabric to the fore. Every fashion imaginable. The best place to harvest some eye candy was the UG Pineapple photo booth because if fashion must walk the Blankets and Wine red carpet, then the world must see in it pictures.

Uganda’s legend music goddess Joanita Kawalya bellowed her most favourite hits over the years, bringing a relaxing mood to the evening sunset.

By 8pm when Distruction Boys stepped on stage, Cricket oval was filled to capacity. The due put up an energetic performance, picking songs from all over Africa and crowning their performance with their all time favourite hit, Omunye.

Fresh Dairy donates classroom desks to Kirinya Catholic Primary School https://theinvestigatornews.com/2018/08/fresh-dairy-donates-classroom-desks-to-kirinya-catholic-primary-school/#utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fresh-dairy-donates-classroom-desks-to-kirinya-catholic-primary-school Wed, 29 Aug 2018 01:59:56 +0000 http://theinvestigatornews.com/index.php/2018/08/29/these-are-the-5-big-tech-stories-to-watch-in-2017/ Fresh Dairy has today donated Twenty (20) classroom desks to Kirinya Catholic Primary School for emerging 2nd Runner-Up winners in the 2018 Fresh Dairy Schools Program. The Primary Seven pupils from the school who originally had no desks in their classroom and had to make do with writing classwork on the floor were thrilled to sit on their new desks for the first time.

Speaking during the handover event held at Kirinya Catholic Primary School, Vincent Omoth – Marketing Manager Fresh Dairy said, ‘Fresh Dairy has for two consecutive years run a schools program aimed at educating children on nutrition with an inclination towards encouraging the consumption of 1-Yoghurt-a-Day as a healthy and nutritious snack. This year’s Fresh Dairy’s School Program which started on 15th March 2018 successfully reached at least 300,000 primary school pupils as well as teachers and parents in over 350 primary schools across Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono districts, a time during which free yoghurt was given out to all students for sampling to further re-emphasize the 1-Yoghurt-a-Day nutrition message.’

Omoth further added that donating the classroom desks to Kirinya Catholic Primary School will aid a better learning environment because the learners spend an average of eight hours seated each school day while attending class lessons. These desks will also better concentration in class, as the students don’t have to bend their backs anymore to write classwork, but instead sit in an upright healthy position.’

The desks were commissioned by the Assistant Town Clerk of Bweyogerere Division – Kira Municipality – Kavuma Ronald who applauded Fresh Dairy for the donation thanked the school staff and pupils for using their efforts to win the desks. ‘As Government, we can’t do everything on time because of resources and schedules. The Municipal council had already set up new structures at Kirinya Catholic Primary School without desks. Fresh Dairy has answered our call and at least one of the structures has acquired desks. This is what everyone out there ought to do. Thank you for honoring that aspect of Corporate Social Responsibility and giving us desks.’

Omoth added, ‘Yoghurt as one of the products we produce at Fresh Dairy is an ideal nutrition booster for children because it is a healthy and nutritious snack that is rich in Vitamin A, B, D, E, Calcium and Potassium. School going children not only require adequate nutrition in order to meet their growth milestones and lead healthy lives but also need to learn best  health and nutrition practices at an early age that they keep as they grow.’

Head Teacher Kirinya Catholic Primary School – Nalongo Settimba Christine thanked Fresh Dairy for the new classroom desks and said that in today’s modern world, there is need to be creative to out beat the market. ‘Fresh Dairy has given our children the opportunity to be creative. We used to see yoghurt but we didn’t know the values it had but these days our students demand the people in the school canteen to stock Fresh Dairy yoghurt.’

Settimba added, ‘Kirinya Catholic Primary School has a total of 981 students and this year we collected 3,000 Fresh Dairy yoghurt cups which we used to make a dress and a water tank for a period of one month and a half, a model that earned us the second runner-up position.’

Champion Teacher Muyombya Patrick who teaches Primary Six said, ‘We decided to make the dress and water tank because the water tank is unique while we made the dress because no one can go around naked.’

Kituyi Peace, a Primary Seven pupil at Kirinya Catholic Primary School said, ‘Thank you Fresh Dairy for the desks. Before we got the desks, we used to at times write from the floor or squeeze between 4 to 5 students on the few desks we had. But now Fresh Dairy has given us a new look. During the Fresh Dairy schools program 2018, I learnt about nutrition and the different nutrients in yoghurt like calcium which makes bones strong. It was also fun making the models with my classmates.’

The 1st Runner-Up of the 2018 Fresh Dairy School’s Program – Murchison Bay Primary School – Luzira Prisons was rewarded with a newly renovated multi-purpose hall from Fresh Dairy while the overall winning school Mutungo Primary School will receive a newly constructed permanent nursery classroom block from Fresh Dairy. Omoth concluded by noting that Fresh Diary will continue running the Fresh Dairy School Program next year in order to reach out to more schools with its health and nutritional message.

CelebrityTalks: School first, Northern female artist Jenneth Prischs speak out https://theinvestigatornews.com/2018/08/celebritytalks-school-first-music-will-always-come-northern-female-artist-jenneth-prischs-speak-out/#utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=celebritytalks-school-first-music-will-always-come-northern-female-artist-jenneth-prischs-speak-out Sun, 26 Aug 2018 02:00:04 +0000 http://theinvestigatornews.com/index.php/2018/08/26/doctors-take-inspiration-from-online-dating-to-build-organ-transplant-ai/ Northern Ugandan female artist Jenneth Prischa has revealed that her silence at the moment is a deliberate music to enable her concentrate on her studies.

“When I moved on to Kampala, I planned to come and continue with my education, get empowered with life skill that would help me sustain my life even when not behind the mic” Said Jenneth Prischa, the Pe-Apore gospel hit marker and co-founder of Rockstar Edutainment.

According to Prischa she has enrolled for a two-year training in fashion and design at COWA centenary vocational training school, located in the premise of Nsambya catholic parish, a school dedicated to skilling the next generation of entrepreneurship with basic life skill for improved livelihood.

She further noted that, in between she will be seating for her Directorate of industrial training (DIT) craft exam soon a move which will see her join YWCA for further studies.

Prischa who had initially studied garment cutting and making from Northern Uganda Youth Development centre in Labora, Koro sub-county, Omoro county in Gulu district urged that she realized whatever she studied was insufficient. “The fashion and designed world keep on getting new trends every day, so one needs to be creative to remain relevant in this business, being passionate about fashion I did the obvious by returning to class to find a befitting skill for a better future”

And your music? I am still in game and not about to give up soon, I am just busy but slowly releasing great songs like my latest on corruption dubbed, Corruption anthem, Gang Myel, Tim Pa kongo and Simple Gyal which just need on air promotions. Meanwhile, “I wanna be Jesus’s follower, Mony Polo and Take me home under my gospel collection have been recorded pending mastering and release soon they too will be dropping out”

Prischa noted it was her prayers to go back to school because there is no future without a firm foundation and self-realization.

Whereas music fetches money at any given time its occasional but with a permanent job you will always be sure of bread in your house than anticipating gigs and surviving on hands out. I think a permanent job regardless of home small is an opportunity for a sustained life than being unemployed.

“as a musician you don’t know when you get a gig most of the gigs are on the peak time of the year based on calendar of events so its equally hard to know when you will get one or not.

This for me as a woman is petty survival that does not define my true meaning of being a celebrated. She appealed to her true fans and those who love her music to continuing enjoying the few she has to offer with a promise to make a mega return when the right time comes.

Open letter to Hon Matia Kasaijja on presiding over a city that loses USD 800m every year https://theinvestigatornews.com/2018/08/open-letter-to-hon-matia-kasaijja-on-presiding-over-a-city-that-loses-usd800m-every-year/#utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=open-letter-to-hon-matia-kasaijja-on-presiding-over-a-city-that-loses-usd800m-every-year Sat, 25 Aug 2018 02:00:06 +0000 http://theinvestigatornews.com/index.php/2018/08/25/how-couples-can-solve-lighting-disagreements-for-good/ Dear Hon Matia Kasaijja,
Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
I send you warm greetings from my home in Kira Municipality, which is under 20kms from your opulent office. Since the reading of the national budget in June, I haven’t heard much from you. I hope you are in perfect health and not on Katebe. I am not sure what you spend your working hours doing these days but you need to urgently show cause why you are still our lovely minister of finance, planning and economic development.
It takes me on average two hours to drive from Kira Municipality to the centre of town for meetings. This is a distance of less than 20kms. With due respect sir, this is unacceptable. I say two hours because I know how lucky I am that I can still afford (with a lot of difficulty though) to fuel my car at Shs4300 per a litre to drive to Kampala. I think my colleagues who use public transport lose many more hours.
I am not only worried about the time by the way. I am concerned about the gases from the 20-year old cars that I inhale while in traffic. I have a six-year-old daughter that I drop to school along the way. I think she qualifies to be your Muzukkulu. Imagine what she is growing up inhaling. Are you bothered that this Muzukkulu’s health is in danger? I am not very worried myself because at least at under 40 years of age, I have had a chance to live a bit. This Muzukkulu is just six years old! She has her aspirations. The other day, she told me that her friends think that she can be a greater singer like Sheba! Can you imagine if we deny her that opportunity?
If you aren’t concerned about this, I hope you have read an executive summary of the World Bank Report on the role of government in the development of Greater Kampala, an area that is approximately 970 square kilometres. I will summarise the executive summary for you. I know you can be very busy planning for us.
The report says that Kampala currently accounts for 10{0945c2a372ac1e8bbfe7cc3e10f9b82eb0b8ae872b07368d754f0396b6ef2afe} of the country’s population, a third of the gross domestic product (GDP) and hosts 46{0945c2a372ac1e8bbfe7cc3e10f9b82eb0b8ae872b07368d754f0396b6ef2afe} of all formal employment in the country. More than 80{0945c2a372ac1e8bbfe7cc3e10f9b82eb0b8ae872b07368d754f0396b6ef2afe} of the people who live and work in Kampala walk to work. The KCCA has reported that minivans that transport 82{0945c2a372ac1e8bbfe7cc3e10f9b82eb0b8ae872b07368d754f0396b6ef2afe} of those who can afford transport account for only 21{0945c2a372ac1e8bbfe7cc3e10f9b82eb0b8ae872b07368d754f0396b6ef2afe} of the trips made on Kampala roads. Private vehicles and boda boda, which account for 9{0945c2a372ac1e8bbfe7cc3e10f9b82eb0b8ae872b07368d754f0396b6ef2afe} each of the traveling population in the city account for just 37{0945c2a372ac1e8bbfe7cc3e10f9b82eb0b8ae872b07368d754f0396b6ef2afe} and 42{0945c2a372ac1e8bbfe7cc3e10f9b82eb0b8ae872b07368d754f0396b6ef2afe} respectively of the daily trips made in Kampala.
Don’t get me wrong Hon. Minister, this isn’t an indicator of development. People drive their cars or use boda bodas because there is no public transport system that is worth the ink of this letter. As Minister of Finance I hope you will note that 24,000 man-hours a day are lost by commuters to traffic jams —that’s an estimate by KCCA. The World Bank report that I talked about says that the country loses USD800 million every year because of traffic jams in Kampala. In four years, this figure raises to USD3.2 billion, which is equivalent to about 10{0945c2a372ac1e8bbfe7cc3e10f9b82eb0b8ae872b07368d754f0396b6ef2afe} of the country’s GDP. If you still want the Bazukkulu to increase their incomes, you need to do something. Maybe do it for the sake of your boss by introducing an effective rapid mass transport system in Kampala.
I am sure you travel a lot and maybe you have seen public transport systems that work. May I suggest that your next trip should be to Addis Ababa or Dar es Salam? These cities, which are about two hours away from Kampala, are investing in rapid mass transit public transport systems. Those countries don’t even have as much oil as we do. If they can afford them, why not us? I don’t think you even need to use any public money to do this anyway. Look for investors and give them the right incentives to operate in the city.
Thank you for accepting to read my letter because I know your handlers managed to place it to your desk. They suffer too because they have no lead cars with sharp shooters to open traffic for them. If you can’t do this project for me and your Muzukkulu, at least do it for them. You know how much they earn.
Yours sincerely,
Denis Jjuuko
