Here, amidst the daily struggles of life, a beacon of hope emerges through the tireless efforts of individuals committed to making a difference.

Joy Mutamba, the CEO of Mzee Home Care Foundation, stands as a pillar of unwavering support for these children. Her conviction that every child, irrespective of their challenges, deserves a bright future fuel her commitment. It’s a belief rooted in personal experience—a journey that began with her own son’s arduous battle against mental health issues.

“Giving care and help to others doesn’t just make the world better. It also makes you a better, happy, and relieved person with a feeling of being forgiven of your sins,” Joy shares, reflecting on her motivation, drawn from her son’s miraculous recovery and subsequent academic success.

Joined by Yaya Xtra Residence CEO, Stanley Ndawula, Random Acts of Ubuntu (RAU) members and other volunteers, the Mzee Home Care Foundation has dedicated itself to uplifting the underprivileged since 2016. Their recent annual visit to Home of Hope on December 20th epitomizes their commitment—a day filled with sharing, laughter, and genuine connections.

For Maama Edith Lukabwe, the founder of Home of Hope, this journey started with personal adversity. Her son’s battle with multiple disabilities opened her eyes to the struggles of many others in her community. Abandoned and neglected children with disabilities faced dire circumstances, often left in the care of elderly relatives unable to meet their needs.

“I prayed about it several times, but I kept on denying it,” Maama Edith shares, recounting her struggle to answer the call to care for these children. A life-altering accident further reinforced her resolve, leading to the establishment of Home of Hope in 2007, initially sheltering five children, including her son.

From those humble beginnings, Home of Hope has grown to support 96 children, providing not just shelter but also vital community outreach programs. The organization’s dedication extends beyond the shelter, offering essential services like therapy, medical assistance, educational support, and empowering activities.

Amidst the stories of struggle and resilience, Joy, Maama Edith, and their teams exemplify the true essence of superheroes. Their selfless dedication, fueled by empathy and compassion, paints a picture of hope and empowerment for these remarkable children fighting battles that transcend their tender age.

The gifts

As the sun sets on another day at Home of Hope, the echoes of laughter and the sparkle in the children’s eyes linger—a testament to the unwavering commitment of these everyday heroes and their relentless pursuit of a brighter tomorrow for all.

Compassion Can Always Be Present: Our Attitude is a Choice, so Doing Good is an Approach Humans Choose at Own Will https://theinvestigatornews.com/2022/11/compassion-can-always-be-present-our-attitude-is-a-choice-so-doing-good-is-an-approach-humans-choose-at-own-will/#utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=compassion-can-always-be-present-our-attitude-is-a-choice-so-doing-good-is-an-approach-humans-choose-at-own-will Wed, 23 Nov 2022 15:58:59 +0000 https://theinvestigatornews.com/?p=5268 That we can choose, not having to wait until we are said to be good People because kindness can always be present anytime, wherever it is, wherever we are. Do we ever feel like we are bad people for wrong doing to others? Or do others consider us evil because of the mistakes we made?

And when we feel like we are in that position, we instead consider ourselves unfit to be good people anymore. Whereas we don’t have to wait to be well first to be good, we don’t have to be seen as good people first to spread kindness. Because kindness can always be present anytime, wherever it is, even in unexpected places.

The writer (L) and Random Acts of Ubuntu (RUA) Team Leader Ashley Nayiga (R) with some of the less privileged children in Kooki

Kindness is when we can have a positive impact on our surroundings, be it on our fellow humans or other living beings. We have to remember one thing; that every human being has a positive side. And of course, because of this, goodness will always be found in humans. Let’s not forget that we are human. So, don’t judge someone just because of their past. Because humans can change, grow and get better.

Don’t judge someone from one side only! Because we don’t know what they have been through, how they have grown up, and what good they have done. And of course, that also applies to anyone who judges us. In life, we go through different stages, we learn a lot from those stages so that we can choose to change for the better from yesterday. Our attitude is our choice, being good is the attitude we can choose.

Simply put, don’t wait to be strong first for us to be able help carry other people’s things, wait to have a lot of food first for us to be able to share. Don’t wait to be rich first to be able to give donations. Don’t wait for the judgment of others who say we are good people to start doing good, because goodness doesn’t have to be visible so that it can be said to be good.

Every year, Joy Nissi Mutamba, one of YayaTrips members celebrate her birthday, week and month with the less privileged kids of Home of Hope in Jinja

We can choose at any time to be able to start. When we do good to others, even small kindness, it will certainly bring other goodness to us unnoticed, because its blessings will always come with every good step we do. Keep spreading the slightest kindness, because the longer it will be, of course, there will also be more and more, which makes it a great reward for us.

Be assured that goodness will lead us to peace, strengthen our hearts and make us become grateful for life. Remember that simply saying the words sorry and thank you that we often forget is also a kindness. Even when we smile at other human beings .so don’t hesitate start doing good, starting with simple things. Because every good step will mean a lot be it to others, or ourselves. Let us find goodness around us, and then we will realize that goodness is also within us.
