In the pages of this prized Investigator media website, in the month of May this year, lies a leaked story, detailing how Hajj Mohammed Majid Baagalaaliwo, who introduced the Coca Cola franchise to Uganda, had spent two months while languishing in a tragic coma.
We further explored how his wife, the 76yr old Hajjat Nnaalongo Sarah Nanziri Baagalaaliwo, was, alas, riding on her own husband’s sorry health state to supposedly rob blind his estate, the estates of his relations plus others that the currently gravely sick tycoon had previously donated to third parties.
Fast to the present, Hajj Baagalaaliwo, who notably offered shelter to Buganda King, His Royal Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II prior to the central government surrendering back his official palaces to him and, who was a big gun in the Greenland Bank group of sister companies, is still, regrettably, languishing in coma.
Aged 85, Hajj Baagalaaliwo slid into a debilitating coma on February 27th 2023 after being struck by a massive stroke from inside his storied bungalow on Plot 9 along Hill Drive in the affluent men’s Kololo outskirts of Uganda’s Kampala Capital City. Medical evidence now firmly in our possession indicates that Hajj Mohammed Majid Baagalaaliwo, God forbid, may never recover from the coma.
Alas, his wife, a lawyer by training, a chairperson of the Exim Bank Board of Directors and a politician, who formerly represented Uganda at the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) on the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party ticket, has since amazingly, reportedly treated her own husband’s prolonged poor health state as an opportunity to amass money.
Sadly, she`s reported to have since recruited her four young daughters, namely Naseeba Nakato Baagalaaliwo, Farida Marvel Nabalozi Baagalaaliwo, Adilan Naseem Nalulyo Baagalaaliwo, and Sharifa Babirye Baagalaaliwo, into her alleged criminal heist schemes, hence soiling their personal reputations, damaging their future professional and business prospects.
She appointed the quartet as directors to a disputed Baagalaaliwo Foundation. But make no mistake, Baagalaaliwo Foundation, in truth, is nothing else than a safe haven and conduit of illicit proceeds as well as a cover for Hajjat Sarah Nanziri Baagalaaliwo’s arguably fraudulent activities.
And yet, at her seventy six years of age, she herself appears to have lived her life already and nearly seen it all and done it all with almost nothing to lose anymore, in terms of personal reputation and integrity as compared to her young children who seem to be in the sunset of their lives.
Seriously speaking, Hajjat Sarah’s dangerous schemes pit Hajj Baagalaaliwo’s family against other families he hails from, especially given that she has been laying claim to properties belonging to those families and while fraudulently using Hajj Baagalaaliwo’s name and personality as her own personal convenient front, fence, trench and or cover.
The Forensic report
For starters, a very latest police forensics report firmly in our grip paints a grim picture in regards to the fraudulent activities and forgeries that have rocked Hajj Baagalaaliwo’s, his relations’ and associates’ estates ever since he started to experience a quicker succession in deterioration of his mental and body functions and abilities.
Released on July 1st 2025 by the Uganda Police Forensic Services, the leaked report is centered, among others, on the deeply contentious Baagalaaliwo Foundation that Hajjat Baagalaaliwo formed on April 20th 2023 and attributed the same to Hajj Mohammed Majid Baagalaaliwo but with the aim of using the same to siphon funds, grab properties and ultimately, fraudulently conceal the resultant loot thereto.
In two ways that sharply reveal her truer intentions and or, ill-intentions in registering Baagalaaliwo Foundation, Hajjat Sarah, whose mother was a sister to Uganda’s former Attorney General as well as Head of State, the late Godfrey Lukongwa Binayisa, conveniently chose to register the outfit two months after her husband had swarved into a coma and yet she claims he was the one who instructed her to register that foundation.
Furthermore, not only since it’s registration has the Hajjat been frantically and unrelentingly fronting the fake outfit as an original creation of Hajj Baagalaaliwo whereas not, but also conducting fraudulent activities using the same as her cover in the hope that she would never be uncovered nor her truer fraudulent nature.
By way of example, she, after registering Baagalaaliwo Foundation, started to fraudulently claim that her husband was the owner whereas not, of the prime estate of his late mother, Hajjat Mulasi Nakakawa in Kibuli, Kisugu in Makindye Division comprising of rental properties. Thereafter, she took control of the said property and placed thereto a caretaker, Badru Busuulwa, whose job essentially was to collect rent accruing from the property and turn the same over to her.
While she was annexing the property to Baagalaaliwo Foundation, Hajjat Sarah Nanziri Baagalaliwo simply fraudulently asserted without any iota of evidence that her husband had invoked his powers as the proprietor of the property whereas not, and instructed her to transfer the same to the bogus Baagalaaliwo Foundation.
Hajj Sarah’s obviously fraudulent activities would reach a crescendo when she moved and claimed properties belonging to Hajji`s Wakinyankali Family in Iganga. She just woke up one day and asserted that the husband, who had previously, incidentally donated the property in form of a storied building to his relatives was again the one who had instructed her to remove the same from them and annex it to Baagalaaliwo Foundation.
Before it was known, Hajjat Sarah had also, fraudulently on behalf of her husband and Baagalaaliwo Foundation, claimed yet another property in Iganga which Hajj Baagalaaliwo himself had previously donated to the Muslim community there, going ahead to construct a community hospital in honor of his late mother, Hajjat Mulasi Nakakawa and a community school.
But as they say, days of a thief are merely 40, Hajjat Sarah’s own day of reckoning has finally arrived with the release of the police forensic report that dismisses the fake signatures earlier attributed to Hajj Mohammed Majid Baagalaaliwo and used during the processes leading into the final registration of Baagalaaliwo Foundation, suddenly bringing down crashing the inherently fake outfit just like the proverbial fake feet of clay.
One of the documents Hajjat Sarah based on to register Baagalaaliwo Foundation was the purported Memorandum and Articles of Association of Baagalaaliwo Foundation dated April 17, 2023 bearing signatures attributed to the ailing man!
First and foremost, the date on the above document is evidence enough to show that it was fake since Hajji could not have signed the same while he was lying helplessly in a coma that he had slipped into on February 27th 2023 and in the presence of his wife herself and, he has to date not recovered from the same.
In short, as learned friend Roberts Friday Kagoro would submit, the document itself on the face of it tells a ridiculous lie about itself and is an embarrassment to know that it originated from Hajjat Sarah, a veteran lawyer, a senior citizen, a practicing Muslim of many years and, a politician in her own right, having previously represented Uganda to EALA.
To add insult to injury, another document was filed with the Uganda Bureau of Business Registration titled Company Form 20, communicating appointment of the director and secretary of Baagalaaliwo Foundation dated the same day of April 17th 2023 bearing the signature attributed to the Director.
Fortunately enough, the forensic department, acting on an handwriting expert, Erias Ssebuwuufu’s report, cited above in these pages have since unambiguously and professionally advised thus; Fundamental differences were observed between the sample signatures and the questioned signatures attributed to Hajj Mohammed Baagalaaliwo in the skill, alignment manner of execution, of g-like letter, and proportions of m-like letter in the middle of the signature.
Furthermore, continues the forensic report, legibility and strong pen control were observed on the last part of the sample signature, whereas not on the questioned signatures. “Consequently, based on the observations made above, in my opinion, it is likely the author of the sample signatures did not sign the questioned signatures attributed to Hajj Mohammed Majid Baagalaaliwo, summed the handwriting expert.
It’s is also important to note that whereas Hajji Baagalaaliwo collapsed into a coma on February 27th 2023, he had previously for some good time, been placed on external oxygen inside his house to revive him since he was already suffering from a cocktail of diseases.
But of our major concern and interest was the genuineness of the signatures. Fortunately, the handwriting expert addresses himself to the matter and concern and asserts that Hajji Baagalaaliwo never authored the same. In the final analysis, Hajjat Sarah looks to be in a pretty much serious danger that may prospectively see her arrested, prosecuted and thrown into jail.
When we return to these pages later, we shall be able to prove why we assert that Hajjat Sarah Nanziri Baagalaaliwo is dangerously staring down into the barrel.
