The name Kibwetere struck fear in the hearts of humanity from across the globe and earned indignation a couple of years ago, when an old man going by those particulars burned to ashes, hundreds of people in the Western part of Uganda.
Kibwetere had posed as a religious leader for many years whereby, he had lied to his unsuspecting followers how he was going to deliver them to Heaven. The brain-washed-followers had surrendered all their wealthy to Kibwetere ahead of turning up in `Heaven` to enjoy the bliss, the deceitful old man had promised to them.
Realizing his falsehoods were about to catch up with him, Kibwetere lured his followers indoors after which he sent all of them on fire and thus, they all perished in the process. From that day henceforth, the name Kibwetere has come to be identified with murders and murderers in Uganda.
As if to prove critics right, a young man going by the name Kibwetere is under police custody after purportedly killing his wife, by hitting her with a blunt object on her head, injuring her skull in the process. Fred Enanga, Uganda’s Principal Police Spokesperson, recently confirmed the arrest of the 47-year-old Kibwetere, over suspicion of killing his 25-year-old wife, Ronius Twikirire.
The conflict leading to the murder is believed to have been sparked by the victim’s decision to use family planning without the spouse’s knowledge, consent and approval. Ironically, Kibwetere’s other name is Innocent. Innocent stands for purity or blameless and or, faultless.
Yet Innocent is thought to have murdered his wife on November 11th and stuffed her body in a sack before calling his in-laws on November 15th 2022, to own up the homicide.
