The colourful ceremony attracted royalty from across Uganda, with representatives and traditional leaders from Buganda, Bunyoro, Teso, Kooki and Ankole among those who witnessed the historic occasion. Their presence underscored the ties between Uganda’s traditional institutions and the importance attached to the Tooro throne.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the chief guest, joined the royal family, cultural leaders, government officials and invited guests at the ceremony. Museveni later posed for photographs with the newly crowned Omukama and members of the Royal Succession Committee that selected him following the death of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
The ceremony also brought together members of the Tooro royal family, including Omusuuga Charles Kamurasi Akiiki, as well as Tooro subjects who gathered to witness the coronation.
Among the royal guests were the Kamuswaga of Kooki Kingdom, Apollo Ishansa Kabumbuli II, and the Emorimor of Teso. The event featured traditional drumming, royal rituals, speeches and colourful cultural performances, creating a memorable occasion as Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I formally assumed the Tooro throne.
