The sudden death of Timothy Magambo following a drowning incident has brought grief and shock to many who knew the young man and to countless Ugandans who have followed the news with sadness. Timothy, the son of Maj. Tom Magambo Rwabudongo, Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), has been remembered as a cheerful and promising young man whose life ended far too soon.
For every parent, the loss of a child is a wound that words can barely heal. Regardless of politics, public office, or personal beliefs, death remains one of life’s greatest equalizers. In this difficult moment, many people across Uganda have offered messages of sympathy and comfort to the Magambo family.
Friends and well-wishers have described Timothy as a young person with a bright future ahead of him, full of energy and hope. His untimely passing has left sorrow among relatives, classmates, and all who interacted with him.

I got to know the Magambo family when I coached Timothy’s younger brother in football here in Pelham NY USA. They are such a lovely family. Timothy was in my older son’s class at Pelham High School. This is terribly heartbreaking. He was such a nice kid. I hope all his relatives and friends in Uganda know that Timothy and his family are loved here.
