MUHOOZI WARNS: NO PARTY FOR AAA: CDF Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba Threatens Arrests Over Alleged Celebration For Anita Among As Organiser Says Circulating Video Was Edited

A fresh political storm has erupted around former Speaker Anita Annet Among after CDF Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba warned that anyone attempting to organise a party for her would be arrested.

Muhoozi’s warning followed the circulation of a video suggesting that a major celebration was being prepared for Among in Bukedea following her release from house arrest.

“There will be ABSOLUTELY no party for AAA. We shall arrest anybody involved in that nonsense!” Muhoozi posted, adding: “Forgiving someone does not mean they do not have unresolved cases.”

But the alleged party has since been denied by both Among and events organiser Justine Nameere Nsubuga, who said the video being circulated was an old and edited clip taken from a May 6, 2026 recording.

Among also moved quickly to distance herself from the claims, telling Muhoozi: “My brother Gen, there are no arrangements by myself or individuals associated with me to host any party.”

The controversy has opened a new political debate only days after Among was released from house arrest, with questions now being raised over who created and circulated the alleged party announcement and why.

Nameere Denies Party Claim

Nameere said the video being circulated as evidence that a celebration for Among was being organised was misleading.

According to her, the clip was an edited version of an older video she recorded on May 6, 2026, when political activity around the presidential swearing-in period was high.

She explained that her original video was aimed at encouraging young people to take advantage of opportunities created by the swearing-in season by providing services and making money.

At the time, she said, she had cited politicians who were expected to organise celebrations, including Members of Parliament, ministers, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

Nameere said Among was then a popular candidate for the Speakership and had support from several political groups, including the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), members of the Central Executive Committee and other political actors.

She argued that the old footage had subsequently been edited and circulated in a manner that made it appear as though she was announcing a new party for Among following her release from house arrest.

“This is an old video from May 6, 2026,” Nameere explained, insisting that it should not be interpreted as a current announcement.

She also appealed directly to Gen Muhoozi, whom she addressed respectfully, saying she had known him from his university days and through her work in media and political mobilisation.

Nameere urged the CDF not to rely on information circulated by people she described as “crooks”, arguing that the video had been maliciously presented to create the impression that a new political celebration was being organised.

Among Distances Herself

As the controversy grew, Among herself moved to distance herself from the alleged party. Responding to Muhoozi’s warning, she said there were no arrangements by her or people associated with her to organise a party.

“My brother Gen, there are no arrangements by myself or individuals associated with me to host any party. God bless!” Among posted.

Her statement appeared designed to draw a line between herself and the social-media claims and to reassure Muhoozi that she had no plans to organise a celebration that could contradict the circumstances surrounding her release.

The exchange has nevertheless exposed the sensitivity surrounding Among’s return to public life following the lifting of her house arrest.

Muhoozi’s Strong Warning

Muhoozi’s intervention was notable for the strength of its language. His declaration that there would be “ABSOLUTELY no party” and that anybody involved would be arrested amounted to a direct warning to organisers and supporters who might contemplate holding a public celebration.

More significantly, his statement that “forgiving someone does not mean they do not have unresolved cases” appeared to underline the distinction between the decision to forgive Among and the wider questions that may surround her political and public affairs. The warning therefore injected a new dimension into the debate over Among’s release.

While the President’s decision brought an end to her period under house arrest, Muhoozi’s statement suggested that the development should not automatically be interpreted as meaning that every matter associated with her had disappeared.

He did not, however, announce that Among herself would be arrested or that she had violated any specific condition of her release. His warning was directed at anybody who might participate in an alleged celebration.

Doreen Questions Party Claim

The controversy also attracted criticism from political figures, including Doreen Nyanjura, who questioned reports that a major party was being planned for Among.

Nyanjura referred to claims that Nameere had announced a massive celebration and linked the development to Muhoozi’s warning.

Her comments contributed to the debate over whether the alleged party was genuine and whether such a celebration would have been appropriate immediately after Among’s release.

However, Nameere’s subsequent explanation and Among’s own denial have cast doubt on the authenticity of the claim.

The episode demonstrates how old social-media content can quickly acquire new political meaning when circulated without its original context.

Release From House Arrest

The dispute comes against the background of Among’s dramatic release from house arrest.

Muhoozi had earlier announced that President Museveni had directed that Among be released and would not be prosecuted over matters that had been investigated by security agencies.

Among subsequently thanked Museveni and Muhoozi, describing the decision as an act of “parental grace”.

Her release was widely discussed because of her position as a prominent political figure and her role in Uganda’s political establishment.

The subsequent controversy over a purported celebration therefore attracted immediate attention, particularly because Muhoozi himself intervened publicly.

Social Media Reaction

The developments have generated sharply divided reactions online. Some commentators welcomed Muhoozi’s warning, arguing that the circumstances surrounding Among’s release called for restraint rather than celebrations.

Others questioned the authenticity of the video and accused those circulating it of deliberately creating political tension.

Some social-media users mocked the dispute, while others used the controversy to revive broader debates about Among’s political career, accountability and her relationship with the ruling establishment.

Several of the comments, however, contained allegations and political claims that remained unverified and should therefore be treated as opinions rather than established facts.

The controversy has also highlighted the growing influence of social media in shaping Uganda’s political narratives, particularly where edited videos and old statements can be presented as current events.

A Party That May Never Have Existed

At the centre of the dispute is a striking contradiction: Muhoozi warned against a party that Among says she was not organising, while Nameere insists that the video used to support the claim was old and edited.

If Nameere’s explanation is accurate, the controversy arose not from an actual decision to organise a party but from the recirculation of material from a completely different political moment.

Among’s direct denial further weakens the claim that she or people acting on her behalf were preparing such a celebration.

Nevertheless, Muhoozi’s intervention has made clear that any attempt to turn Among’s release into a public political celebration would face strong opposition from the security establishment.

For now, the alleged Bukedea party remains unconfirmed, while the political message from Muhoozi is unmistakable: the decision to forgive Among should not be interpreted as a licence for triumphal celebrations or as the automatic disappearance of every unresolved matter surrounding her.

The episode also offers another lesson in the politics of social media—an old video, stripped of its original context, can quickly become the spark for a fresh political controversy.
