Gosh! A rehab on the outskirts of Kampala has been detaining a rapper for seven months and is threatening to keep onto him until he settles a UGX23M outstanding debt, the Investigator Pries can authoritatively report.
Frank Geria a.k.a Rock Giant, the “Paka Last” singer, known for suing Warid cum Airtel for ‘pirating’ his song via commercials, has not been working for years and to make matters worse, he’s spent close to two years in and out of Rehabs.
He is fighting mental problems caused by abuse of several tribes of drugs and alcohol. But we can authoritatively report that the lad has failed to find means to clear his medical bills which keep piling up. His relations are equally struggling.
The other tragedy is that whoever knows or used to know him, seem not to be interested in his current miseries. But the biggest disaster is that the rehab can’t release him without clearing the bill first, meaning he can’t go out and fend for himself!
Even if he is released, insiders tell us, no music promoter would want to deal with him because apart from the toll his health problems has visited on him, he seems not to be in proper mental shape so as to afford the rigors of composing and producing music, let alone promoting the same which is a big-money venture.
The above being the case, Rock Giant is now asking people of good heart such as Gen Salim Saleh, Maama Fiina and Hamis Kiggundu to help out. He promises not to do drugs ever again if he is bailed out of the rehab. We saw him, he has learned lessons, and he will keep the promise.
Rocky Giant had initially been admitted to City Hope Rehabilitation Centre located along Mpereerwe-Gayaza. He successfully completed his treatment regime over 7 months ago but has been held at the facility over failure to clear his accumulating medical bills.
One psychiatrist who has been treating the rapper informed us that Rocky Giant, had fully recovered but that his continued stay there was pilling a toll on his person. “His mental health too might get distorted and lead him into depression, hence a possibility of relapsing into abuses again.
Everyone in the music industry had forgotten about the rapper until in October 2020 when he angered the then Presidential Advisor on the ghettos, Mark Bugembe aka Buchaman who responded by flogging him.
When contacted, the fading star responded thus; “Yeah Man I am stuck. I can’t move an inch. I am not sick anymore but the rehab guys can’t let me go. I have a debt of UGX23m… you know. Tell the Rastas to help a fellow Rasta. I have not worked for seven months. I am really down. Tell them to come for a visit. Jah bless.”
He added that he was repentant of his past. “I am stuck here for way too long because I owe them (hospital) a lot of money. Basically, I’m not okay. I was admitted because of the drugs problem. I don’t think I will ever go back to drugs.”
The veteran adds that he realizes his purpose in the world and it is the biggest motivating factor towards him quitting drugs forever. He mentions Gen. Salim Saleh, Maama Fiina and tycoon Hamis Kiggundu as the people he believes, can come to his rescue.
