KAMPALA, Uganda: Centenary Bank is proud to announce that it has been recognized with two prestigious accolades at this year’s Brand Africa Awards: Most Admired Ugandan Bank and Ugandan Bank Doing Good in the Community. These awards reinforce the Bank’s longstanding commitment to customer-centric banking and its continued contribution to socio-economic development in Uganda.
The Brand Africa Awards launched in 2011, remain the gold standard and the most comprehensive, research-based ranking of the most admired brands across the continent. This exhaustive survey spans over 30 African countries, covering more than 85% of the continent’s population and GDP.
The rigorous research is independently conducted by globally respected firms GeoPoll and Kantar, with strategic insights and rankings led by Kantar and Brand Leadership. The awards provide valuable insight into how consumers perceive and connect with leading brands, placing emphasis on trust, relevance, and community impact.

Centenary Bank has for more than four decades positioned itself as a people-centred financial institution, dedicated to transforming lives through inclusive financial services. With 81 branches, 209 ATMs and more than 8,000 agents countrywide, the bank has steadily expanded its reach to ensure that financial services are accessible even in the most remote communities.
The award for Most Admired Ugandan Bank is a testament to the Bank’s leadership in delivering innovative, customer-focused banking solutions. From embracing digital banking platforms such as CenteMobile and CenteOnline, to expanding agent and SME banking, the bank continues to redefine how Ugandans access and interact with financial services.
Beyond financial excellence, Centenary Bank’s recognition as the Ugandan Bank Doing Good in the Communityhighlights its role as a champion for social and economic transformation. Every year, the Bank dedicates 2% of its net profit towards impactful Corporate Social Investment projects that improve education, healthcare, livelihoods, and the environment.
Some of the bank’s notable initiatives include: financial literacy trainings for different segments notably youth, women, farmers, micro and SME customers, SACCOs, and VSLA’s, donating desks, chairs and other scholastic material aimed at increasing access to education for underprivileged students. As a faith based institution, the bank undertakes The Social Mission of the Church where it supports various church needs like pews, windows, church events to mention but a few.
In health and sanitation, the bank has donated waste bins, water tanks, participated in cleaning activities and other community activities. It has further made donations to hospitals inform of mattresses, beds, medical machines, and construction, as well as supported the annual Rotary Cancer Runs, contributing significantly to the fight against cancer.
The bank has also participated in various environmental sustainability initiatives, including tree planting campaigns and green financing initiatives, to combat climate change. In the past two years, the bank has planted over 70,000 trees in different parts of Uganda with an aim to build a greener and more sustainable Uganda.
