Former Uganda Cranes midfielder Mike Mutyaba has launched a blistering attack on FUFA President Moses Magogo, demanding an immediate probe into the football boss’s wealth, football finances, and alleged links to private companies.
Speaking during a fiery press conference in Kampala, Mutyaba claimed Ugandan football has been turned into a “personal business empire” and questioned how billions of shillings and millions of dollars received by FUFA have allegedly been spent under Magogo’s leadership.
“FUFA has received money from everywhere,” Mutyaba charged. “There is $7 million from StarTimes, $2 million from MTN, Shs19 billion from government, Shs4 billion from Nile Breweries, $1 million for women’s football, $250,000 from FIFA and even Shs500 million from Nivana. What does all this money do? Ugandan footballers are still suffering.”
The former KCCA FC and Uganda Cranes star revealed that he has officially petitioned the Inspector General of Government (IGG) to investigate Magogo under constitutional and Leadership Code provisions. Mutyaba wants authorities to establish whether the longtime football administrator properly declared his wealth and whether his known income matches the assets allegedly linked to him.
In the explosive petition, Mutyaba reportedly raises questions over FIFA and CAF funding, sponsorship cash, government subventions and revenues generated through Uganda’s football structures. He further accuses FUFA leadership of operating without enough transparency and accountability.
“We cannot keep quiet while football continues to collapse under leaders who refuse to explain where the money goes,” Mutyaba said. “Players struggle, clubs are broke, but officials continue living lavishly.”
The outspoken ex-footballer also called for Magogo to step aside as investigations proceed, arguing that Uganda’s image is at stake ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, which the country is co-hosting.
Sources close to the matter claim security agencies are already scrutinising Magogo and his wife, Annet Anita Among, amid reports that several properties in Kampala were recently searched and cash allegedly recovered. However, no official statement has been released by authorities regarding the claims.
Mutyaba proposed the formation of a transitional football management committee to steer the federation if Magogo exits office. He suggested a lineup featuring football administrator Mujib Kasule alongside Aggrey Ashaba, Ben Misagga, Dianah Nyago and Phionah “Fifi” Namiiro.
As pressure mounts, FUFA is yet to issue an official response to the allegations. But Mutyaba insists this is only the beginning of what could become the biggest football scandal Uganda has seen in years.
