Kampala, July 30, 2025– Centenary Bank, Uganda’s largest commercial microfinance institution, has reinforced its commitment to community development and social transformation by partnering in the 3rd edition of the Nsambya Babies Walk. The annual event aims to raise funds to support the welfare of children under the care of Nsambya Babies Home.
The charity walk, flagged off by His Grace Paul Ssemwogerere, Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, began at the Railway Grounds and concluded at the Home. This year’s theme,“Pilgrims of Hope,”brought together stakeholders from across civil society, including church leaders, community organizations, schools, and well-wishers, walking side by side in solidarity.
Speaking at the event, Centenary Bank Managing Director, Dr. Fabian Kasi, emphasized that the walk is more than a date on the annual calendar. “At Centenary Bank, our mission is deeply rooted in faith, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to service. This is the foundation for our long-standing partnership with Nsambya Babies Home, an institution that holds a special place in our hearts,” Dr. Kasi said.
He urged more institutions to come on board to provide sustainable support for the children, including healthcare, education, and psychosocial services. As part of its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) policy, Centenary Bank allocates 2% of its previous year’s profit to initiatives in financial literacy, education, environmental conservation, and community development. This year, the bank contributed Ushs. 20 million towards the Nsambya Babies Walk.

Dr. Kasi also commended the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix–Ggogonya, caregivers, volunteers, and donors for their tireless dedication to the children’s welfare. In response, Sr. Teddy Nakyanzi, Director of Nsambya Babies Home, expressed heartfelt appreciation.
“Your support not only helps us meet the daily needs of the children but also reminds us that we are not alone on this mission. Together, we can give these children the dignity, love, and future they deserve,” Sr. Nakyanzi said.
Operating under the Child Welfare and Adoption Society (CWAS), Nsambya Babies Home continues to provide shelter, care, and hope for vulnerable children. Organizers noted that the walk serves as a reminder of the power of collective action in safeguarding the welfare of the next generation.
