Dawn of Bisanja Politics at NSSF: A Story of a Top Executive who was Floored by Interviews but Museveni Rescued Him

There is a mixture of panic and uncertainty at the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) at the moment. This is after the big man at the helm, Richard Byarugaba was caught in service yet he had clinched the retirement age of sixty years. The line Minister, Betty Amongi has since raised the red flag and called upon the appointing authority to act and find a replacement for Byaruhanga.

Following the Minister’s discovery of the age-limit breach, Byaruhanga and his godfathers in the corridors of power, are understood to have embarked on a vigorous lobbying of the power brokers in the appointing authority’s inner circles, to convince him to remove the age-limit in favor of the NSSF honcho.

As we were still up the radar to establish what was going on at the NSSF Headquarters, we chanced upon yet another scandal. It is about how one of the big men at the fund had actually been floored during the last interviews which were being conducted to appoint suitable candidates for the top job.

Having been absolutely floored by the interviewing process, the candidate contacted his godfathers to assist him to talk to the President. This was to convince the Court of Last Opinion in Museveni, to give him the job despite his dismal performance during the interviews. The candidate’s guardians, who are thought to be benefitting a lot from the workers’ cash lying idle in the banks, courtesy of one of the big candidates in question, swiftly jumped into action.

“They told the President how the candidate, despite his dismal performance was a very good cadre of the ruling NRM party,’’ insider sources intimate to the Investigator. Fortunately, for the candidate in question, the President was aware of his soft spot for him as the ruling party Chairman and the party itself.

“Oh, you mean that gentleman, he is our good friend. Leave that to me I know very well what to do,” the president is understood to have told a delegation of the candidate’s power brokers. This is how the gentleman who the president was referring to ended up unnecessarily clinching one of the top jobs at the NSSF at the last recruitment.

Credible insider sources tell us that much as the candidate had sent in the power brokers and facilitated them well to get him the job, he had gone away doubting whether his wish was going to really end into a reality. He would nearly suffer a heart attack out of immense joy after receiving a call telling him to prepare his best suits in readiness for a call up for work. Fear the Investigator! We also knew this!
