The formerly massive estate of Buganda’s 34th Kabaka, the late Sir Daudi Chwa II, has over the years been grabbed right, left and center. This stance, hence depriving the descendants of the said king, of their respective entitlements, rendering some of them destitutes.
Chwa’s estate used to comprise of vast chunks of land formerly located in Munnyonnyo, Lubowa, Nakigalala, Kigo, Busabaala, Kajjansi, Mengo and in other places elsewhere in Buganda. Yet in a new development, the family of the late tycoon, Amirali Karmali, who was formerly known as Mukwano, has been cited in the alleged grabbing of some of the remaining different pieces of land that forms part of the said estate.
The said pieces of land are located in the prime Munnyonnyo rich man’s Kampala suburb and is estimated to be worth tens of billions of shillings. Following the alleged diversion of the said land, the investigator irrefutably reports, the administrators of the estates of the departed children of the late king, who were the beneficiaries thereof, including the late Prince David Ssimbwa, who was Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s late uncle, have since retained the services of the prestigious law firm of Nsibambi, Kimmanje and Company Advocates, to pursue for the recovery of the same from the family of the late Mukwano.
Subsequent to being instructed to do so, the Investigator can further authoritatively reveal, the above-mentioned law firm have since filed an application with the Commissioner of Land Registration (CLR), bringing to his attention the disturbing state of affairs, demanding that he cancels the certificates of titles that the family of Mukwano are said to have deceptively created over the estates of their clients.
We understand that despite being in possession of original certificates of titles to the pieces of land in question, the same that were duly issued to them by the concerned government authorities, the family of Mukwano reportedly strangely went behind their back and convinced the same authorities to create other certificates of titles over the same pieces of land!
Implicitly, there are two same sets of certificates of titles currently in place over the one and same pieces of land. In short, the family of Mukwano owns sets of purported certificates of titles over the same and one pieces of land over which, also the Commissioner of Land Registration, over years, had interestingly issued certificates of titles over. Strange things happen this side of planet Earth.
To save face, we can reveal, the Commissioner of Land Registration has since issued notices to the family of Mukwano, informing them of the potential of cancelling their impugned certificates of titles based on the alleged anomalies involved in issuing them. The same government official has accordingly directed the respondents to table evidence, justifying their possession of the said impugned sets of documents.
Should they not prove the veracity of the said contentious certificates of titles in their possession, the Commissioner of Land Registration will be left with no alternative but to declare the same counterfeit, and then proceed to invalidate the same. We undertake to keep our readers posted about the new developments in regards to these matters as, and when they will keep potentially unfolding. Wish you the best of luck in the year 2025.
