KAMPALA, Uganda: President Yoweri Museveni is reported to be growing increasingly anxious by the way Bobi Wine has continued to make fools of the spies he planted on the People Power chief. Bobi has dodged spies deployed to snoop on him on several occasions. The recent example is when he outwitted them and attended a radio talk-show in Jinja.
Kaguta’s anger is understood to have boiled over after Bobi outfoxed his spies and covertly held talks with the leadership of an entity that not only handed him their party but endorsed him ultimately as well to be their flag bearer during the February 2021 presidential elections.
Sources in the know report to us how the president is furious, wondering how Bobi could manage to hold talks and eventually convince Kibalama to hand him what has since been baptized ad the National Unity party (NUP) without his spies detecting anything of the process. “Where were these good for nothing people (spies) when this boy (Bobi) was planning and effecting all this!!?, an informer close to the president quotes the big man as wondering on reading the story of Bobi’s new party over social media.
Under Scrutiny
According to this informer, the son of Kaguta has since started to suspect his spies to have switched sides. ” Mzee believes that these spies are now working with Bobi,” the source reveals. If that is not the case, our informer confides in us, the president is of the view that they (spies) sleep on the job or are simply incompetent, they are unable to do an efficient job.
The informer goes on to divulge to us the investigation process that the big man has since reportedly set in motion — but without the knowledge of the spies under scrutiny, to try to find out the truth as far as these issue is concerned. “Mzee will act at the end of this exercise. The result of this investigation is going to form the basis of the action Mzee will take at the end of the day,” the informer elucidates.
Not until Kaguta read about the news of Bobi’s new party in the media, the president is understood not to have had any clue whatsoever about the behind-the-scenes meetings which eventually birthed Unity Platform Party. This in spite of the the many months of talks between Kibalama and Bobi.
That his spies remained clueless until Bobi unveiled his party, or knew about it before but chose not to alert him, is an issue that continues to irritate the person of the president, according to people close to the big man.
Up to the moment Bobi stepped out to unveil his party, Museveni had hoped that the young musician eyeing his seat would find problems standing in an election without a legally registered party.
The rookie politician was before rolling out his party using the People Movement to further his political campaigns.
But, on the other hand, there were reports of mercenaries who had bypassed Bobi and registered the People Power movement. The merchants of fortune were now planning to spring up at an opportune moment to claim ownership of the movement with the motive of throwing Bobi’s campaigns into confusion.
The existence of people laying claim to People Power had given Museveni comfort that this trick would derail Bobi’s campaigns affording his (Kaguta’s), on the other hand, a smooth ride.
Now that Bobi has since beat this hurdle, Kaguta will have to use others under his disposal to try to stop the young man who is more than determined to grab his seat come February 2021.
