Federation of Uganda Football Association-FUFA the other day was busy construing FUFA Competitions code of conduct and when they thought it was okay to do, they slapped a three Competition matches ban on Express FC Head Coach Wasswa Bbosa. The same man was fined UGX2M for his unsporting comments.
Before the football fraternity thought many a coach, a player, an administrator of a club or a fan could learn from the same, the country witnesses a player, to be exact, Wakiso Giants` defender George Kaddu falling into the fray.
Apparently and regrettably for him, he has been handed two months ban from all football related activities for misconduct. Are we not fit asking ourselves; where is the love for our beautiful sport?
Something must be wrong in Local Football therefore. We either must be intent on giving training and skilling those involved in the game and forgetting that discipline is key. Or, we are just playing the game the wrong way as long as we win points.
Kaddu, who has been hit with two months ban for misconduct against match officials has also been read with a One Million Shillings fine and will miss over ten league games during the period of suspension.
The young Kaddu was found guilty of contravening article 31 (2) and 31(3) of the FUFA Competitions rules for 2021/22 campaign.
In the ruling, the Competitions Disciplinary Panel was satisfied that; the player attacked the referee which amounted to violent conduct, slapped the referee’s cards which amounted to misconduct.
He further delayed to leave the field of play upon send off by the referee which amounted to misconduct and that all the above misconduct by the player put the game of football into disrepute.
“The CDP SANCTIONS George Kaddu with a TWO MONTHS SUSPENSION from participating in all football matches within the specified period effective immediately as of 26th October 2021 up to 26th December 2021.
“A FINE of UGX 1,000,000 (Uganda Shillings One Million ) to be paid into the FUFA Account NO.7210000969 ECO BANK NDEEBA BRANCH and avail proof of the payment to the committee.”
What is okay for sure is that the makers of the game knew there would be faults both on and off the pitch and so, they introduced the different offences and their penalties but are we not deviating from the actual forte resolute for making the game? Creating love?
Then one wonders where a mere club affiliate photographer gets the authority to also take a jibe at match official. Are we sane? Wakiso Giants Photographer Phillip Mugabi was also fined Five Hundred Shillings (UGX500,000) for what the CDP found as an attack on match officials in his Facebook post during the match at Kitende.
Something must be done or we continue playing dirty against our opponents in the beautiful game. There is surely no love to share but insults, attacks, faults for us to play for with the administrators at all levels sitting behind relaxed and enjoying.
