Some people believe that in general, women are more emotional than men. I don’t know if it’s true. But I think men tend to hide their emotions more often. I don’t know why but it might be because it doesn’t fit the ancient representation of men being ‘strong and fearless hunters.`
This is a vision I don’t share because I believe showing one`s emotions, whether a man or woman is a sign of strength and confidence in them. I’m an emotional person. I don’t show it as often as I would like to. But I am. And glad I am. It means I can live my life filled with empathy and compassion. When I see someone smile, it makes me smile with them. When I see someone cry, it can bring me to tears.
They radiate energy that reaches me. It’s like a wave rushing through my body. Stirring my emotions. Making me laugh or cry. Sometimes at the same time, it has the incredible power of changing someone’s mood in a heartbeat. It’s truly amazing. Scientists call this `Emotional Energy,` in short; EE. It’s fascinating phenomenon. Explaining what it is and how it works in a simple way is difficult, but this article does a pretty good job.
And it reveals the science behind it. If you don’t feel like diving into neuroscience, that’s okay. You don’t need to know any of it, to understand what I’m here to tell you. Let’s keep everything on a level everyone can understand. Take for example one of the greatest speeches in recent human history. It was given by Martin Luther king and called it; “I have a dream.” This speech caused hundreds of thousands of people to experience strong emotions like hope, joy and or, happiness.
It might have given people goosebumps, a lump in their throat or made them cry. Just by the sheer force of the energy one person was giving off. And besides, imagine the millions of people who watched, or listened to the speech, long after it ended, or even King died.
The speech still carries the power to make people emotional. I think that might be the most incredible phenomenon there is in this world. It helped cause war, create revolutions and build nations. It made the world what it is today.
Not only speeches carry this energy. Things like music, art, movies, stand-up comedy, theater, news and written pieces can all substantially affect your emotions and change your energy. But arguably, the most powerful one is communication between individuals everywhere in the world. Whether its online or in person, there is one really important thing to realize. So, however strong someone’s emotional energy might be, when it’s not positive, you don’t have to let it affect you.
When its positive, even though it might be about something sad, let it take control of you and see what it brings to the surface. It might make you laugh; it might make you cry; it might cause you to shake, become hot or cold. But let it out. It will make you feel better after, if not right away. There is absolutely no shame in doing so. You are in control. But whatever you do, let it inspire you.
